The photograph featured on the cover pictures me around the age of two. It was taken a few moments after I destroyed the instrument lying in front of me. My despair visible in the photo must have been enormous, because I still remember this moment.

The instrument (Rababa) was my favorite toy and one of the few reminders of my father, whom I never had an opportunity to meet. A few months before I was born, he left Poland for his homeland, Iraq.

I found this photograph while sorting my recently deceased mother's things. Memories of playing with Rababa and of its destruction are so strong, that I still cannot believe it was so many years ago.

I began to wonder what impact did the sound of this toy, which is so strongly imprinted in my memory and subconsciousness, have on the music that I make now. I began to see the hundreds of sound files recorded casually with my phone and recordings made on the border between sleep and waking have something in common. Something that for my own use I started to call 'fake folk'. From these sketches and scraps I decided to compile the first album released under my own name.

At the same time, I found my father, whom I decided to invite to record together.
